This award was judged on the basis of who is believed to have achieved the most in successfully developing their business and factors such as innovation, quality and sales growth were considered.

The Judges said: In reaching the decision on En Route retailer, a wide range of data was considered as well as consumer attitudinal research.   Overall, it was felt that Marks & Spencer had achieved the most, particularly in helping to transform the image of the en route market.
